Since 2001, I have been teaching in the Entrepreneurship and Leadership Minors in the College of Engineering at Penn State University. My involvement with these award winning programs has allowed me to work with many great young people, and has lead to several successful business start-ups, including LionMenus and DiamondBack Automotive.

I have also had the opportunity to speak at many different conferences, workshops and seminars on a wide range of issues, including creativity, innovation, product development, and strategic planning. I am also very lucky to be part of several very successful organizations as a member of the Board of Directors, including Restek Corporation and WPSU Television and Radio.

New Product Development Workshops

Working with the Industrial Resource Center for Central Pennsylvania, and Bucknell University I delivered a four part series of workshops on the new product development process. The objective was to provide small and mid-sized businesses with a practical, cost-effective approach to product development that followed the best practices of large, industry leaders. Issues covered included idea generation, idea assessment, project management, market introduction planning and life cycle planning. The workshop series was delivered in State College, Lewisburg and Altoona over a three year period.

Technology Based Entrepreneurship for Civil Engineers

For many years, I have taught a course on ‘creativity and innovation as it relates to technical product development’ as part of my work at Penn State. I adapted the standard curriculum to a one-day workshop that I delivered to a group of civil engineers representing several Pennsylvania based firms.
